First let me share that writing a blog post to follow the previous has been very hard for me. We deeply miss sweet little Ben. There is still a lingering emptiness that pervades at times. If I feel this way, I can only imagine how Jonny and Mandy are feeling.
Days still come and go though with seemingly no choice but to live out what is before us. Healing, I guess, comes with the passing of time. This doesn't mean that we are missing him any less though; we are simply trusting that God is still good in the midst of tragedy.
For our little family, days have come to look very different. Chick and I have started commuting south with Bart; and we now spend our work week days nannying for a very sweet family that Bart knows through work. So it's me and babes all day :) I do love it. My hats off to all you mamas out there with twins, etc! I now have a 9 month old and a 7 month old at my side throughout the day (or in my lap, or trying to climb up my legs, or around my legs...). Aaaa, baby love.
Chick really seems to enjoy her newfound buddy. I think she likes having someone her size to chum around with. Although, she enjoys even more that he's just a bit smaller than her so she can still rule the roost. Oh geez!
I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this job. Life doesn't get much better. I get to spend my days loving on and pouring into young hearts, make a little extra money,
and stay with Chick. Thankful, thankful, thankful.
Another busy area of life has been my
Etsy shop: A La Mode. I feel like I'm finally gaining some traction. Talk about lots of trial and error! It's really taken some time to settle in to what I want the focus of my shop to be. This has certainly become a work in progress! But I think that has been a healthy thing for me: it's allowed me to have another creative outlet and grow in a new area- a small business owner!
Now that I've finally made myself sit down and start blogging again, I'm hoping that this will become a a habit again! One day in the not-so-distant future, I envision Chick sitting down and reading through all of these old blog posts with me over a cup of coffee, laughing, reminiscing, and maybe even sharing some tears. A small journal of our lives together. But I guess for that to be the case- I better start blogging! ;)
- Blessings on the hand of women!
- Angels guard its strength and grace,
- In the palace, cottage, hovel,
- Oh, no matter where the place;
- Would that never storms assailed it,
- Rainbows ever gently curled;
- For the hand that rocks the cradle
- Is the hand that rules the world.
- Infancy's the tender fountain,
- Power may with beauty flow,
- Mother's first to guide the streamlets,
- From them souls unresting grow--
- Grow on for the good or evil,
- Sunshine streamed or evil hurled;
- For the hand that rocks the cradle
- Is the hand that rules the world.
- Woman, how divine your mission
- Here upon our natal sod!
- Keep, oh, keep the young heart open
- Always to the breath of God!
- All true trophies of the ages
- Are from mother-love impearled;
- For the hand that rocks the cradle
- Is the hand that rules the world.
- Blessings on the hand of women!
- Fathers, sons, and daughters cry,
- And the sacred song is mingled
- With the worship in the sky--
- Mingles where no tempest darkens,
- Rainbows evermore are hurled;
- For the hand that rocks the cradle
- Is the hand that rules the world.
